IMMUNOHISTOCHEMICAL LOCALIZATION OF FIBRONECTIN IN BASAL CELL EPITHELIOMA AND SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA OF THE SKIN

Abstract

|
Immunohistochemical staining for fibronectin and factor Ⅷ-related antigen were performed on 7 cases of basal cell epithelioma and 6 cases of squamous cell carcinoma of the skin by using of avidin-biotin-peroxidase(ABC) technique.
The results were obtained as follows.
1. All cases of basal cell epithelioma showed positive staining for fibronectin. The fibronectin was more prominent in adenoid basal cell epithilioma than in solid basal cell epithelioma.
2. 4 cases of squamous cell carcinoma showed positive staining for fibronectin, while 2 cases were negative. The fibronectin was more prominent in basal cell epithelioma than in squamous cell carcinoma.
3. Both basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma showed negative staining for factor Ⅷ-related antigen except for stromal vessel.
